Graduate in Automation Engineering, always in tech

I graduated as an Automation Engineer from the Universidad Tecnológica de la Habana "José Antonio Echeverría" (CUJAE) in 2023, after years of teaching, research, and hands-on hardware work. My undergraduate thesis — designing the hardware for a weather station called Vórtice — turned out to be more than an academic exercise: it became the seed of a company.

In 2021, while still finishing my degree, I co-founded ESPOLETA Tecnologías with three other engineers. What started as a way to build affordable local hardware grew into a recognized Cuban MSME with national press coverage. I currently serve as Director of Technology Development.

At the same time, I never left academia. Since 2023 I've been pursuing a Ph.D. in Physics at the Universidad de la Habana, and since 2025 a second Ph.D. in Engineering and Technology at the Université libre de Bruxelles — both centered on environmental sensing and water quality monitoring.

How I Work

The same habits show up whether I'm running a product line or a lab.

Own the Full Pipeline

From budgets and supplier sourcing to PCB design and peer review — I like understanding every layer of a problem, not just my slice of it.

Build for Cost & Access

Vórtice exists because imported weather stations were too expensive for local labs and farms. Affordability is a design constraint, not an afterthought.

Iterate in Public

ESPOLETA's workshop has a "76" painted on the wall — the number of failed prototypes before Vórtice worked. I'd rather ship, fail, and fix than wait for perfect.
